Tips for making the artwork


We recommend to include planting instructions in artworks.

We recommend to include planting instructions in artworks. For example: Plant and grow. Cover the seeded paper with 0.3 cm of soil. Place in a sunny spot and water often. Watch wildflowers bloom!

We can also supply some icons in a vector format when requested.

Seedspaper is uncoated paper and some slight bleeding will occur. Avoid printing very small text on dark coloured backgrounds. We recommend at least 8-9 pt.

Recommendation for offset printing

Tip #1: Slip-sheets. Place slip-sheets made from a regular paper stock between the seedspaper sheets to help the offset printer pull the seeded paper sheets in straight. Because shifting may still occur, we recommend adding extra bleed or using a design that allows for flexibility.
Tip #2: Settings. You can use the same squeeze settings that you would for a typical offset text stock.
Tip #3: Turn off IR lamps. Heating the seedspaper sheets can affect the seed germination process,
therefore we recommend turning off IR lamps. To assist with the drying process, add dryer to the ink.
Tip #4: do not use Acetic Acid based fountain solution as it will cause the seedspaper to delaminate and
pile on the blankets.
Tip #5: The automatic double sheet detector should be disabled because of the variances in
the caliper of the hand made seedspaper.

Tips for good quality printing

Tip #1: If using a heavy ink coverage for backgrounds be sure to print on HQ settings and run a test print.

Tip #2: Seedspaper is uncoated and some slight bleeding will occur. Avoid printing very small text on dark coloured backgrounds. We recommend at least 8-9 pt.

Tip #3: To ensure accurate alignment, we recommend printing 4-color jobs on a 4-colorpress, rather than doing two passes on a 2-color press.
